In Need of our Natural Habitat

Today was our last full day in NYC, and let me reiterate something, IT IS COLD. We had a slow start to our morning (as expected after our busy day yesterday), and we didn't make it out of the hotel room until noon. We grabbed a quick lunch at O'Grady's Saloon across the street and started our Central Park exploration. Angela made me watch the scene from Enchanted that takes place in Central Park, just to see if she could plant the desire to skip and sing. It didn't work.

Walking around the park was nice. There were lots of big rocks and interesting people to see. We found the steps and fountain where Kevin McCallister successfully evaded Harry and Marv in Home Alone 2 by hopping into a horse-and-buggy.

We couldn't stay in the park for too long because we needed to walk back and get ready for our big fancy night! We had tickets to the New York City Ballet's The Nutcracker at 6pm! Remember, one of our main intentions for this trip was to get our fill of Christmassy things, and this was high on the list.

We both decided that we wanted to wear some of our new clothes, and Angela bit the bullet and chose fashion over warmth. This meant that we met a few more cabbies tonight as well.

The show was great, and it ended early enough for us to grab dinner on the upper east side. Angela asked me how anyone could possibly afford to eat at places like that on a regular basis. A couple minutes after that, a girl with a few shopping bags and diamond earrings the size of my thumbnail sat next to us and ordered a seltzer, wine, and plate of berries. Question answered...

We did successfully procure late checkout tomorrow, so we might get another adventure or two under our belt before coming home. All I know is that I want to go back home to Houston where it is warm, cheap, and slower paced. As Angela put it today, we need to go back to our "natural habitat".
