build-a-bullfighter

> Today was fun, it is interesting how plans are only plans, and even
> though you can go into a day thinking you know what will happen, we
> don't have control. It killed me to leave the tv to go out (Serena
> was tied 5-5 in the third set of a fantastic Wimbledon semifinal)
> but I didn't want to waste my time in NYC. We caught a cab to lower
> manhattan to the financial district. We went to the world trade
> center memorial and it was very moving. I imagine that what I felt
> there is a lot like older generations when they talk about Pearl
> Harbor. We went there and saw the stories that I had heard, and read
> about the lives that were affected, and it's all you can do to hold
> back the tears when you start to grasp the amount of loss people
> experienced. If you look out to where the towers used to be, it is
> still empty. A huge gaping hole in the middle of one of the most
> densely developed cities in the world is definitely noticable. The
> plans they showed for the new world trade center look very exciting,
> and I can't wait for them to become a reality.

> After the WTC memorial, we hopped on the subway. We had to buy three
> tickets because Angela in all her sweetness is not exactly a pro at
> the spinning bar doors, but after a short mishap, we were on the
> way! We got off by tiffany's and picked up her newly sized
> engagement ring that fits like a dream! She (and ok, me too) is
> super excited to have it all the time and on the right finger too!
> We were PLANNING on going to spend the afternoon in central park,
> but there was a downpour of rain that said otherwise. We camped out
> under a building overhang and ate hot dogs and a pretzel from one of
> New York's famous cart vendors. They were great. Then we decided it
> was a good idea to go to Build-a-Bear on our way home. The picture
> attached is the bear we built, a studly bullfighter named Tommy,
> that proposes when you squeeze his hand. It was a cool reminder of
> Spain and our engagement!! This evening so far we ate at The Tavern
> on the Green, which was delicious and in Central Park, and now we
> are about to see Mama Mia! Very excited, we'll let you know how
> everything else goes! Off to Bermuda tomorrow morning.
