Woof woof, our dogs are barking!

Today was a short and long day at the same time. How you ask? Let me
tell you. We woke up today around 9:30am, an hour and a half later
than hoped for because of going to bed late. Today was the first day
all trip that I embraced my tourist nature and threw fashion to the
wind. I put on a Tshirt, shorts, and my sneakers and that was that, I
couldn't handle walking around all day in flip flops again. We were
doing tourist stuff all day anyway so who cares. We scarfed some
breakfast and off we went to the subway station. The plan was Notre
Dame then Le Louvre. Instead, we got off at the wrong subway stop and
added to that by walking the wrong way. We ended up at the Louvre and
decided to go there first. There was practically no wait, so we were
in and heading towards the Mona Lisa. Saw that, wasn't anything
special, then we went to Venus de Milo, that famous no armed sculpture
of a woman, estimated to be from the 1st or 2nd century b.c. and the
technique was very advanced. We saw a lot of greek and roman
sculptures as well as lots of art. You can tell that I didn't learn
too much because we didn't have a guide, but also the French do a
significantly worse job than the Spanish at putting information in
multiple languages. Oh, the French. After that, we walked quite a ways
(around two miles) to La Cathédral de Notre Dame. We went in for a bit
and then very happily found a bistro with fantastic sandwhiches and
had a late lunch/early dinner. After that, hopped on the subway and
came back home. So although we were only out of the hotel for about 6
hours, we were on our feet almost the whole time. Angela is asleep on
my shoulder right now, and we all plan to enjoy our night in tonight
very much! Tomorrow is our last day in Europe, and we are taking a
guided afternoon tour of the palace of Versailles. Hopefully we will
have another blog update or two before we leave, and we plan on making
a fair amount of phone calls when we get to NYC on Wednesday. I had to
remember that Angela and I are engaged!! So much has happened since
then, it will be very nice to slow down a bit and be able just to
relax and enjoy some peaceful island life! I'll make sure to keep
updating the blog in the states, in between seeing central park and
eating a big fat American steak!
